September 22, 2016

The National Association of State Boards of Education, the Hunt Institute and the National Council of State Legislatures held a webinar titled, “Ensuring Meaningful Stakeholder Engagement under ESSA,” where state regulators could listen in to a panel discussion on best practices for engaging important stakeholders throughout the development of state accountability plans. CCSSO’s Melissa McGrath outlined details from the organization’s engagement guidelines as a useful resource for states, which includes tactics that some states are already implementing. And Ben Rarick, executive director of Washington’s State Board of Education, discussed specific examples of his state’s efforts to involve stakeholders in all aspects of developing the state plan.
