New Changes Under ESSA
June 29, 2016
According to Education Week, ESSA may make it more difficult for school districts to help low-income students pay for Advanced Placement exams. Right now, the “Advanced Placement Test Fee Program” receives $28.5 million annually from the federal government. Next year, the program will be rolled into the larger Student Support and Academic Enrichment Grants, which, although allotted more than $1.5 billion under ESSA may only see a fraction of that ($300 million), if the Senate Appropriations bill holds.
