Learning First Alliance Makes Stakeholder Engagement Recommendations

While ESSA puts “states in the driver’s seat when it comes to accountability, teacher quality, and more,” they are also required to engage in significant “stakeholder engagement.” The Learning First Alliance has proposed what proper stakeholder engagement under ESSA should look like. Among their suggestions:

  • Making sure the process involves give-and-take decision making;
  • Allowing the process to go beyond just drafting and approving a plan;
  • Picking representatives who are actually accountable to the group they are representing.
