Educators Weigh in on Professional Learning
October 24, 2017
Educators for High Standards identifies the key components of high-quality, effective professional learning that are laid out in ESSA, and shares how schools and districts can provide educators with the opportunities they need, want, and deserve. In partnership with Learning Forward and Teach Plus, Educators for High Standards spent the summer discussing these issues with six educators based in five different states with a goal of better understanding what they are doing and how it is impacting both teachers and their students. The results showed “how teachers crave high-quality, collaborative, teacher-led professional learning opportunities and are eager to implement new strategies in their classrooms,” as well as “the importance of strong professional learning in the future of the teaching profession.” Visit Educators for High Standards’ website to see interviews with these veteran educators, where they delve into these five factors and “detail how their professional learning experiences have transformed their teaching practices, their colleagues’ instruction, and ultimately, their students’ learning experience.”
