Education Week‘s Alyson Klein takes a look at how, under ESSA, districts can apply for a “weighted student funding pilot,” and how this provision was “billed as a victory for the school choice community.” Thus far, “most of the five districts that want to participate in the first year of the pilot” appear to be planning to “use the flexibility to lay the groundwork for new school choice programs.”
