ESSA Makes Parent Engagement Even More Important

Massachusetts educator Jessica Lander writes in The 74 that ESSA “has elevated the importance of parent engagement, setting aside funding and requiring states to develop strategies for effectively engaging with families.” However, for too long, “there has been minimal guidance, training, time, or support for teachers and schools in creating strong partnerships with students’ families.”
