Independent Peer Review Groups Examine ESSA Plans

Real Clear Education examined how ESSA plans are being reviewed not only by the Dept. of Education, but by independent peer review groups. Real Clear Education highlighted review projects by Bellwether Partners and the Collaborative for Student Success, the Fordham Institute, and the Council of Chief State School Officers. The Collaborative’s Executive Director Jim Cowen noted, “Our goal was to conduct an independent review that went beyond compliance. Our intention is to give states feedback from a wide range of accountability experts, and especially to identify the best practices that emerge from the 17 plans.”
