State Education Task Force Focuses on Developing Robust Teacher Evaluation System
December 2, 2019
According to member Lisa Burciaga Segura, the New Mexico Public Education Department Teacher Evaluation Task Force is “focused on developing a teacher evaluation system that is built upon collaboration, teacher strengths and abilities, and (that) challenges educators and those who supervise them toward rigor and continuous growth/development.” The task force includes 46 educational professionals assembled by New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham to develop a new teacher evaluation system that connects to the state’s existing requirements under the Every Student Succeeds Act and “provides students with a meaningful opportunity to provide input on their educational experiences.” According to Segura, the work of the task force is still ongoing.
