ESSA Praised for “Establishing Clear Standards” for Evaluations and Other Measures

Thomas Toch, director of the Center on the Future of American Education at the McCourt School of Public Policy, commented on the Dept. of Education’s educator effectiveness guidance. Toch praised the recommendations for “establishing clear standards” for evaluations and using other measures such as “student surveys, teachers’ contributions to school culture, and, perhaps, students’ academic success.” Toch also encouraged President-elect Donald Trump to support the recent guidance for the “sake of students and teachers.”
