AEI Panel Discusses ESSA Implementation During the Trump Administration
November 10, 2016
The American Enterprise Institute (AEI) hosted a panel discussion on the potential impact the Trump administration will have on education. Panel members discussed ESSA’s timeline and ruled that aside from rolling back a few regulations, states are in control of the law’s implementation. Frederick Hess, resident scholar and director of education policy studies at AEI, argued that “ESSA is in the rearview mirror” and “higher education is the next issue.” Education Week reporter Alyson Klein was cautious of what parts of ESSA will be implemented, and “what the reaction will be” when certain aspects are not enforced.
