MA Stakeholders Seek to Improve Under-performing Schools

Stakeholders in the Massachusetts education community shared a series of ideas Thursday that they hope the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education will incorporate into a the state plan to measure the success of schools under ESSA. Several organizations, including MASSCreative, the Boston Student Advisory Council, Mass Insight Education, Teach Plus and STAND for Children, produced posters outlining their ideas. “A handful gave presentations, which included visions for incorporating arts education in the state accountability plan, rewarding schools that lower suspension rates and embrace alternative student discipline, and expanding accountability measures to improve underperforming schools before they fail.”
