Education Week: Many State ESSA Plans Are ‘Uncreative, Unambitious’

ESSA “was supposed to free states up to go off in bold, new directions on K-12 policy,” reports Alyson Klein in Education Week. Did state plans live up to that promise? “Not so much.” Scott Sargrad, managing director of K-12 policy at the Center for American Progress who reviewed the plans, said, “Overall, states put the minimum amount in plans that they had to.”
