August 24, 2016
Futures Without Violence released a guide for states and school districts on how ESSA can create “positive school climates, and in particular prevent and respond to the needs of children suffering from exposure to violence and the effects of trauma.” The health and social justice nonprofit notes that there are 46 million children in the US – nearly two out of every three – who are “exposed to violence, crime, abuse, or psychological trauma in a given year. Futures Without Violence argues that ESSA funds can be used to “address these challenges head-on,” and details how this can be accomplished.
