Language on Assessments Agreed To and Circulated

April 21, 2016

Final details on the language agreed to by the negotiated rulemaking committee was circulated. Read more here. The language includes:

  • Required testing in grades 3-8, and in high school. Subjects include math, science, and reading, plus state-level approved standards.
  • Reporting requirements that categorizes students by gender, native language, special education status, race, family income level, foster status, and military-connected status.
  • All students must take the same state test, allowing exemptions for pilot programs, nationally recognized tests, and advanced math tests for those in accelerated programs.
  • Smaller, interim assessments can take the place of one, summative test.
