Chan Zuckerberg Provides $1.3 Million in Grants to Help Students During Coronavirus Closures

According to Education Week, the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative “has provided a combined $1.3 million in grants” to support online teaching efforts, organizations navigating “complicated policy questions,” and parents impacted by coronavirus-related school closures. The International Society for Education Testing and the State Educational Technology Directors Association will use their grants “to assist schools with online learning initiatives.” Additionally, grants were made to the National Parents Union as well as the Council of Chief State School Officers—which had previously pushed for flexibility in federal education law,” such as ESSA testing waivers now offered by the Department of Education.
