Eleven Oregon Schools in Need of ‘Targeted Support’ Based on Accountability Data

November 10, 2019

According to accountability data from the Oregon Department of Education, “11 Central Oregon Schools were marked as needing help,” reports Jackson Hogan for The Bulletin. As opposed to previous years before passage of ESSA, Oregon has taken a different path, working with school districts to find “individual solutions for each school, instead of a one-size-fits-all policy.” A combination of state and federal support is directed at struggling school districts identified as needing support, and districts work with local administrators and teachers to decide how to best use available funds, signaling a far more collaborative approach than in past years.
