California Dashboard “Redux”
January 22, 2019
The California Department of Education has “spent the past year revising [their] dashboard and released a new version in December, in time to meet the federal Every Student Succeeds Act’s deadline for new state report cards on school performance.” The decision to revise the California School Dashboard came after it “was roundly criticized when it debuted in 2017,” where it was criticized for being “largely inscrutable…and lacked sufficiently stringent consequences for underperforming schools,” writes FutureEd Senior Fellow Morgan Polikoff. The new dashboard is better, Polikoff says, but “still has drawbacks.”
