The 74 Highlights 3 States That Included School Climate Surveys

The 74 identified three states, (Illinois, Nevada, and New Mexico) that included “school climate surveys as part of their fifth indicator accountability tool” in ESSA implementation plans. According to Linda Darling-Hammond, president and CEO of the Learning Policy Institute, “It’s not an easy thing to put into the accountability system if you’re not already doing it statewide.” She also commented that, “It makes sense to me that very few states would be incorporating school climate into their accountability systems.”
