Survey Reveals Board Member are “Feeling Encouraged” About Role and Influence through ESSA

A recent survey by the National Association of State Boards of Education revealed that board members are “feeling encouraged” about their “role and influence over education policy thanks to more leadership opportunities under ESSA.” Through the law, members are able to offer input on decisions related to standards, assessments, and accountability measures. Board officials seek to “reassert their influence” and “devolve back from federal to state control.”
