Pennsylvania State Senator John H. Eichelberger Jr. says the State’s Department of Education “ignored the recommendations of legislative committee chairmen” on the state’s ESSA plan, which was “submitted Sept. 18 for assessment by the U.S Secretary of Education.” Eichelberger has written Education Secretary DeVos “asking her to take another look at the Pennsylvania Department of Education’s plan: “I want them to take another look at the submission and incorporate the changes the committee chairmen requested,” said Eichelberger, who serves as Chairman of the State Senate Education Committee. Eichelberger “enumerated several issues he sees with the state Department of Education’s version.”
