Top ND Education Officials Meet to Discuss State’s Education System Under ESSA

Top education officials met at the United Tribes Technical College’s annual Tribal Leaders Summit to discuss what’s at stake for North Dakota’s education system under ESSA. Ahniwake Rose, executive director of the National Indian Education Association, told the audience that rewriting North Dakota’s state plan should be considered extremely important for Native Americans. The Department of Public Instruction will host a tribal consultation meeting October 21st at the State Capitol to talk with tribes and other tribal organizations about the development of the North Dakota state plan.
