ME Dept. of Ed Considering “Certificate of Completion” Under ESSA

The Maine Dept. of Education is considering a “Certificate of Completion” under ESSA “designed to recognize students who may not be considered ‘proficient’ under the law,” but still “pass all their classes.” If approved, the certificate would fall under ESSA’s “college and career ready” indicator.
