California Education Must Seize Chance to Be Better
March 31, 2018
While it is positive that California “has established college-ready standards and high-quality and aligned assessments” and has “adopted rigorous academic goals,” Faith and Education Coalition Leadership Advisory Council member Yvette Santana still has concerns about the Golden State’s education system. She believes the state’s new education accountability dashboard is far too complicated, and asks how parents, teachers, and students will be able to measure progress and adapt “if the reporting system is not understandable?” Santana also notes that this is not just her opinion, “it’s also the conclusion of education experts,” including the Collaborative for Student Success’ and Bellwether Education Partners’ Check State Plans initiative.
