NCTAF Teacher Contestants Agree on Three Main Points

July 18, 2016

According to Education Week, the National Commission of Teaching & America’s Future’s (NCTAF) Agents for Learning Competition asked teacher contestants to develop plans and present how they plan to utilize ESSA in the classroom. Of the finalists, three distinct points were continuously brought up:

  • Teachers should be utilized for professional learning research, as they have firsthand exposure to the impact of teacher improvement efforts.
  • Teachers should be called upon to share their knowledge and “expertise” with their peers to promote better communication and professional development.
  • Teachers should receive support to advocate “their point of view to policymakers” and create plans to collaborate with those policymakers.
