Sarah D. Sparks writes in Education Week that, according to a recent evaluation by the Institute of Education Sciences, few of the hundreds of programs that have been proposed under the “Investing in Innovation, or i3, program” and encouraged under ESSA actually “led to significant interventions.” The evaluation found that this was largely due to a lack of information to measure the impact of various interventions. However, those programs that were successful can help guide districts to more effectively leverage evidence to improve achievement.
