CAP Raises Concerns over Trump’s Proposed Federal Budget
March 17, 2017
Experts from the Center for American Progress posted a blog opposing President Trump’s 2018 federal budget. CAP said the budget “would dismantle public schools through massive cuts to teacher training, after-school programs in public schools, and transfers of public funds to private school vouchers.” They also expressed concern over proposed changes to Title II funds under ESSA. The group argued “Title II is the major federal funding stream districts use to support their teacher workforce.” The program also “ensures equitable access to high-quality teachers and principals for all students.” The members argued this budget plan would “throw vulnerable students under the bus” and would “not benefit most Americans.”
