17 States and D.C. Plan to Submit Final ESSA Plans by April

January 13, 2017

According to Education Week, 17 states and the District of Columbia are working to submit their final ESSA plans by the April deadline. Aside from DC, the states include Arizona, Colorado, Delaware, Illinois, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, Montana, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Dakota, Ohio, Oregon, Tennessee, and Vermont. Mike Petrilli, president of the Thomas B. Fordham Institute, is “doubtful” that the new administration will “have enough staff in place to start reviewing plans unless they simply rubber stamp them.”
