Dept. of Education Awards School Improvement Grants

October 27, 2016

The Dept. of Education awarded $427 million in School Improvement Grants (SIG) to “help turn around America’s persistently lowest-achieving schools.” The program has invested over $7 billion since 2009 to improve public schools. In conjunction with the SIG program, ESSA requires states “identify and support the lowest-performing schools” and “implement evidence-based interventions to turn around these schools.”
